Thank you for the items in the SB Independent's News of the Week reporting the place of the police checkpoints, and the number, and kind of tows. I noticed that in the May 28 issue, the report did not list the time of day of the checkpoint. Would it be possible to continue listing this information every week? Or perhaps a monthly cumulative total? It was my impression that these checkpoints happen not just once a week, but more often, and at different times of the day, e.g. in the early morning when people are going to work rather than just late at night. It would also be helpful to know the ostensible primary reason for the police checkpoint. Is it to check for DUI? Seatbelts? Or unlicensed drivers?

How about them cell phones in their hands. Now there's plenty of tickets they can give out for that. In other countries like Brasil, its an automatic ticket for using a cell phone while driving. When is America going to catch up with the rest of the world.

These safety checkpoints are paid with a State grant. The funds are for the police over-time pay.

Of course, this raises the question about why is this police work done only if it is paid through a State grant??
