A staggering 36 million votes have already been cast nationwide, reports national media outlets, and Santa Barbarans are following suit. The county Elections Division has tallied 72,000 mail-in ballots in-house by Friday from the 192,000 or so registered voters. To drop a ballot early and in person, the elections offices in Santa Barbara, Santa Maria, and Lompoc have extended their hours, including opening up this Saturday from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Alternatively, voters can find their polling place locations at sbcassessor.com/SampleballotandpollplaceLookup/

In Santa Barbara, the elections office at 4440-A Calle Real accepts ballots on Saturday, November 5, from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. On Monday, hours are the usual, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Ballots on Tuesday’s Election Day are accepted from 7 a.m.-8 p.m. The election offices in Santa Maria (511 E. Lakeside Parkway) and Lompoc (401 E. Cypress St.) both will be open to accept ballots on Saturday, 9 a.m.-1 p.m.; Monday, 8 a.m.-noon and 1-5 p.m.; and Tuesday, 7 a.m.-8 p.m. On Election Day, November 8, all three locations will have both a drop box as well as elections workers accepting ballots in the parking lots. As always, ballots mailed and postmarked on or before November 8 are counted.
