As of right now, it looks like two Santa Barbara Channel buoy data stations (like the one pictured here) — which provide valuable real-time wind, weather, and wave conditions to boaters, surfers, and weather forecasters alike — are going to be shut down in the coming months due to a lack of federal funding.
