Sharron Louise Krebs, 67, passed away with her loving family at her side early Sunday, April 28, 2013, in Goleta, CA, due to a pulmonary embolism. She was a devoted and loving mother, wife, friend, and volunteer.

For more than 37 years she was a dedicated elementary school teacher in the Pleasant Valley School District, Camarillo, CA. “Mrs. Krebs,” as she was affectionately known by her loving students, was an advocate for her students’ success and an ally of their parents. She frequently volunteered for education-related activities around the Pleasant Valley School District from tutoring, to helping out at graduation, to administering speech tournaments.

Sharron loved creating ceramics and gardening, particularly planting roses and succulents. She was the co-president of the Pleasant Valley Garden Club, and the recently elected Treasurer of the Channel Islands District of California Garden Clubs, Inc. Sharron was also an accomplished ceramic artist and floral designer. She was a frequent international traveler; unafraid to venture to distant and unfamiliar corners of the world. When not taking the unbeaten path, she traveled often throughout Europe and Asia. She was also a member of the women’s groups at Trinity Lutheran Church in Santa Barbara and Mount Cross Lutheran Church in Camarillo and served on the Board of Directors at Trinity Lutheran Church and other organizations.

Born in Waterloo, Iowa, May 20, 1945, she was the oldest of four siblings. She attended the University of Northern Iowa and graduated in 1971 from California Lutheran University with a degree in Education. She was a member of AAUW and the Delta Kappa Gamma Society International, a group of leading women educators.

Mimicking the often quoted line, “Life is what happens while you are busy making other plans,” Sharron was anticipating at her untimely death the send off of her son to his seventh deployment, this time his second to Afghanistan, as well as, the planning of her daughter’s summer wedding to Trent David Bigelow. Her creativity and energy was matched only by her drive, diligence and hard work ethic. She was very approachable, known for her ability to make strangers feel like friends, and friends feel like family.

She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Martin Gene Krebs, and their two children, California National Guard SSG Martin Allan, Las Vegas, NV; and Marsha Allison, Beverly Hills, CA; Sharron’s mother, Mildred Diehm; sister, Melissa Stabenow; and brother, Curtis Diehm, all of Iowa.

A memorial service will be held at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church of Santa Barbara, Saturday, May 4, at 2 p.m., (805) 687-1577.

Donations in Sharron’s memory can be made to “Pleasant Valley Garden Club” for (memo line) “Scholarship Fund,” mail to: Sharron Krebs, PO Box 1373, Camarillo, CA 93011.
