Our beloved June passed away this year on Thanksgiving Day. Her rich and full life embraced many people and activities, from her work as an Ultrasonographer, to her many years doing pottery at the Schott Center, book group friends, gardening, beach walks, and warm cozy dinners with many close friends and family. June was a loving wife and mother, friend and teacher.

She celebrated life and enthusiastically organized get-togethers with friends and family. She was a strong advocate of women’s rights, and condemned the oppression of women in any culture. June was born in Beverly, Massachusetts and spent the early part of her life on the East Coast. Every now and then, we’d hear that wonderful Boston accent slip into her conversations. She attended the University of New Hampshire for her BA and MA degrees in psychology. She moved to Boulder, Colorado where she worked and taught while she attended classes and learned her craft as an Ultrasonographer. She came to Santa Barbara in 1976 to help start the Ultrasound program for the new Goleta Valley Hospital Birthing Center and to complete her graduate studies at UCSB. June completed her PhD program in Confluent Education at UCSB in 1982, where she made many lifelong friends, including many foreign students who also lived in the Graduate school housing complex. She and her husband Bill even went to China to visit one of her favorite friends from graduate school. She worked in ultrasound many years for a local, private physician, and at the time of her retirement, was the Senior Sonographer in the Radiology Department for Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital.

She is survived by her husband of 30 years, William Neubert, son, Joshua Buttny (wife Shauna) and granddaughter Sophia, as well as Bill’s two daughters, Jennifer Phillips and Robin Neubert, and Jennifer’s three children – Ryan, Naomi, and Audrey. She is also survived by her mother, Lois (98), two sisters, Marilyn, Florence, a niece and nephew and their child. June and Bill raised their three children together as a blended family. There was never a dull moment with 3 lively teenagers in the Neubert/Standley home. She was so loved, and left this world held in the embrace of her husband and daughters collectively.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Thomas Woliver, and the staff and nurses at the Santa Barbara Cancer Center, Hospice of Santa Barbara, and Visiting

Nurses of Santa Barbara. No services are planned at this time.
