Susan Lake

1945 - 2008, Santa Barbara

Courtesy Photo

After a brief illness, Susan Lake, passed on her 63rd birthday at her home in Santa Barbara surrounded by those that loved her. Susan was born on November 13th, 1945 in upstate New York.

After studying psychodrama therapy under Dr. Moreno, she moved to Santa Barbara in the early 1970s where she became an actor in local productions and a well-known early childhood educator. She was an early and ongoing activist in the Woman's Movement.

Her friends remember her as a vibrant personality that was always strong, funny, and honest. Susan is survived by her best friend of 35 years, Patricia Eble; the child of her heart, Madison James; and her partner of 20 years, Ksenia Luchkowska whom she recently wed on August 23rd, 2008.

Please direct donations in her name to the Visiting Nurse and Hospice Care, 222 East Canon Perdido St., Santa Barbara, CA 93101.

I knew susan befor she was a lake, peaceful and deep, it was back when she was susan roach, fiesty, and strong, always always so very brave, and such an inspiration to the young woman I was. I never told susan how much she inspired me, how much she helped me set my own journey, but, well, now she knows
My heartfelt condolences to Patty, and anyone else greiveing for susan who knew me so many lifetimes ago.
