Patrick Timothy Foster

Dear Patrick Timothy Foster, 46, died suddenly in a car accident Feb.17, 2008. He leaves a huge number of people whom he touched with his multiple talents and sweet loving nature. He will be sorely missed by all.

Born in Madrid, Spain, April 26, 1961, he spent part of his childhood in Tangier, Morocco before coming to Santa Barbara in 1965 where he's lived ever since. He attended Roosevelt and Peabody schools and La Colina Junior High. He graduated from Santa Barbara High School in 1979 and attended Santa Barbara City College.

He was a phenomenal athlete and excelled for 30 years in many martial arts. Patrick was an accomplished Master in Mande Muda Pencak Silat, Kung Fu, Tae Quan Do, Tang Soo Do, Qigong, T'ai Chi, Judo, Aikido, Savate and Kick Boxing.

He loved all these arts and never failed to bring an upbeat, joyous attitude as well as a high degree of dedication to the practice sessions. We are so proud of his speed, strength, grace and agility in these arts. He was a beloved teacher and a tower of strength during hard times.

He loved music and played the piano, trumpet and guitar with great feeling. He loved to travel and went to Europe several times and to Brazil.

He loved learning the Brazilian martial art, Capoeira, and cherished his time with his fellow Capoeira martial artists--who fondly knew him as "Pirata"--a nickname he loved just as he loved his fellow Capoeiristas--They brought such joy to his life. He had the "fastest kick in the West."

He leaves Cara and Steven, his beloved children, and their mother Michele, his loving mother Marylin Foster and his siblings Barbara, Michael, and Catala, his adored niece, Ellen, Michael's children, and countless dear ones who will ever be close to him and his family.

May God bless our dear son, father, brother, husband, uncle, and friend as God embraces him closely for all of us.

An outdoor service will be held Saturday March 1, 2008, at 1 pm. at Upper Manning Park (group area 1) on San Ysidro Road in Montecito.

The "Patrick Foster Memorial Fund" has been established at Santa Barbara Bank & Trust to benefit Patrick's children, Cara and Steven, for anyone wishing to make a contribution.

"How we will miss you dear Pirata." Keep the party on in heaven!
