Andrew Leroy Brownwood

1934 - 2007, Santa Barbara

Andy died suddenly on Saturday, June 16 while vacationing in South Africa with friends and his wife, Kay. His family and friends are still in shock over the loss of such a great husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Andy was born in Santa Barbara, raised in Lancaster, and returned to Santa Barbara in 1967, where he continued his career with Allstate Insurance. He built a very successful insurance agency, which his step-son Paul continues today. Andy and Kay retired to Las Vegas, NV in 2002, where they enjoyed golf, the company of good friends, and traveling in their motor home and abroad. His family and many friends knew Andy as an energetic man, full of life and love. He was a sailor and member of the Santa Barbara Yacht Club, played racquetball and squash at the Santa Barbara Athletic Club, and enjoyed a cold martini with a twist of lemon. Andy loved to ski, and his friends, children and grandchildren all skied together every year in Colorado. He was an avid golfer, playing at golf courses around the world; none as special as the Siena golf course that overlooks his back yard in Las Vegas.
