Solvang resident Richard Haenel, 70, struck a deal with the District Attorney’s Office last week after facing charges of possession and distribution of child pornography. Haenel’s will serve one year in County Jail and five years of felony probation; he will also have to register as a sex offender and pay restitution. Authorities — the District Attorney’s Office worked with the Los Angeles-based Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force on the case — searched Haenel’s computer in April and found videos of children being assaulted; Haenel isn’t believed to have committed any abuse.
