Pet owners tend to consider their critter(s) part of the family. And as family members, they can be costly to feed, shelter, and keep healthy. Terribly, sometimes folks are forced to relinquish their pet to a shelter when financial difficulties befall them. That’s when the Diana Basehart Foundation steps in. A Santa Barbara–based nonprofit started two years ago, its mission is clear: “Helping elders and others on limited incomes care for and keep their beloved companion animals by providing support for veterinary, behavioral and nutritional needs.” To raise money for those in need, the foundation is holding a fundraiser featuring Char Margolis (char.net), a world-renowned medium. Margolis gained national attention in 2001 as a guest on Live with Regis when she predicted Kelly Ripa’s pregnancy. She travels the world giving readings and is bringing her talents to Santa Barbara Saturday, September 20, 1-4 p.m., at Unity Church Sanctuary, 227 East Arrellaga Street. All proceeds from the event will go to the Diana Basehart Foundation. For more information and tickets, call 222-4567 or visit basehart.org.
