Raíces de mi Tierra of UCSB presents its 24th Annual Folklorico Show La Fiesta del Pueblo. La Fiesta del Pueblo will feature over 30 performers interpreting dances from several beautiful states in Mexico including Chihuahua, Guerrero, Tamaulipas, Durango, Michoacán, and Jalisco. The participation of Semillas, a youth dance group mentored by Raíces and composed of young dancers from Isla Vista and Dos Pueblos High, is always a treat.
A student-led dance troupe, Raíces de Mi Tierra strives to preserve, teach, and expose the beauty of the Mexican folklorico dances and traditions through performances, workshops, and youth outreach programs. For the past twenty-four years, Raíces has engaged the Santa Barbara community with dances from all the states of México. Raíces has been featured in the Santa Barbara Independent, Viva el Arte!, and Santa Barbara Fiestas. Join us for this exciting show filled with fantasy, celebration, and inspiration.
