This section of temporary fencing along the 6800 block of Del Playa Drive was recently torn down.

It appears an unhappy resident tore down portions of the bright orange temporary fencing that was recently installed along the Isla Vista bluffs. Last Friday, the mesh fence had been put up along the oceanfront side of open space at the 6800 block of Del Playa Drive, but by Saturday, it was torn down, said Isla Vista Recreation & Park District general manager Rodney Gould. Prior to the installation, the resident had knocked down the poles put up to secure it, he added. UCSB had provided the funds for the temporary barrier, and the county had secured an emergency 30-day permit from the California Coastal Commission. The rest of the fencing — along five Isla Vista parks — is still in place.
