Dog Days Santa Barbara, an area company that donates 15 percent of its profits from their products, Beach BBQ Bites all natural chicken jerky and eco-friendly dog toys made in California to local canine causes, has selected its 2014 Top Dog donation recipients–C.A.R.E.4 PAWS, DAWG, and K-9 PALS.

Top Dog organizations were selected based on number of years serving Santa Barbara County, as well as volunteer involvement and the effectiveness of their overall mission. C.A.R.E.4 PAWS has been working to reduce pet overpopulation since 2009 and now travels with its Spay Mobile offering free and low cost spay and neutering. DAWG is the only no-kill shelter in Santa Barbara, and they found homes for 502 dogs in 2013. K9 PALS raised over $80K to provide medical services for dogs and found 552 dogs new homes in 2013.

Top Dog volunteers and a few lucky shelter dogs will be treated to a special beach BBQ picnic Saturday, June 7, 11 a.m.-1 p.m, at Goleta Beach Park, including gourmet meals prepared by Ayda Robana of Om Sweet Mama Catering. Doggies will dine on smoked organic chicken bites with vegetables and brown rice drizzled with honey, and humans will be served hot dogs…of course.

Top Dogs will also receive their first quarterly donation, as well as free dog treats and toys created by Dog Days Santa Barbara to generate ongoing support for these important programs. In March, Dog Days Santa Barbara started selling all natural chicken jerky dog treats, Beach BBQ Bites, and a new line of eco-friendly dog toys, Play It Again Pups, is now available.

Paige Shields, CEO of Dog Days Santa Barbara said, “As a lifetime dog lover who owns two rescue dogs, I always wanted to do more to help dogs without homes. I thought it would be great if all the money I spend on my dogs benefited shelter dogs. I hope other dog owners feel the same way.”

Community-conscious dog owners in need of treats, toys and other fun beach dog accessories can now find these locally made products at Summerland Beach Café, Loose Pooch Dog Club, George pet shop in Montecito, and you can purchase them online at www.dogdaysinsb.com
