It Girls Resist the Label, Worried It Seems Anti-Man

School’s out, and it’s a good thing, too — because across the world, young women are being kidnapped, raped, and shot to death while pursuing an education.

If that sounds shocking — terrific. I’m glad to know we haven’t yet become desensitized to the violence that female students are enduring. But we haven’t become sufficiently enraged about it, either. And that’s equally shocking. Remember when girls and women could go to school and expect to graduate unharmed? Here’s what’s happening now:

Starshine Roshell

• There are 164 Nigerian girls missing after being abducted from their school in April by Islamic terrorists who oppose Western education and have threatened to sell the girls into sexual slavery.

• In the U.S., one in five women is being sexually assaulted during college, and more than 50 universities are being investigated by the Office for Civil Rights for mishandling sexual-assault cases on campus.

• And here in our progressive, civilized town, six people were murdered when an angry young guy embarked on a rampage to “punish all females for the crime of depriving me of sex.” The killer, whose name will never appear in a column of mine, left written rants about waging a “war on women.”

While all of that is happening, this is also taking place: Young women are insisting they’re not feminists. From Katy Perry to Lady Gaga, influential It Girls have been resisting the label, worried that it seems anti-man. The latest: Actress Shailene Woodley, star of The Fault in Our Stars, out this week, recently told Time magazine that she’s not a feminist.

“[B]ecause I love men,” said the 22-year-old, “and I think the idea of ‘raise women to power, take the men away from the power’ is never going to work out because you need balance.”

I used to feel like her: embarrassed at all the fuss over women’s rights, uncomfortable with the notion that I needed any protection from defensive chicks with chips on their (tee-hee, mannish) shoulders. Their protests made me flush with shame — the way you do when your mom upbraids a waiter for getting your order wrong. Stop! Please! It’s fine! I’m fine! Quit calling so much attention to us!

I never felt slighted for who I was. Not by anyone. For any reason. But the defensive chicks were the reason why.

It was a testament to the work they had already done for women’s rights that I saw no need whatsoever for such work. I took my nearly equal status for granted, the same way kids born after 2000 will fail to see what the big deal is about a black president. Or how the next generation’s children will take their gay parents’ matrimony for granted.

But to say you’re not a feminist today is to be ignorant of the hard-won victories fought on our behalf. So we could vote. Own property. Earn a paycheck. Wear pants, for god’s sake.

In fact, even being ignorant is a slap in the face of the feminists who ensured our right to an education, when girls in colonial America could only attend school if there were seats left after the boys filled the classrooms. And when women weren’t admitted to any college until almost 200 years after Harvard opened its doors. And when women and men didn’t attend U.S. colleges in equal numbers until 1980 — just a few years before Katy Perry and Lady Gaga were born, for those keeping score.

So listen up, sisters. As long as there are men who see us as game pieces in their political, sexual, and psychological battles, as things to be overpowered, won or lost, possessed or destroyed — then, no, you don’t get to treat feminism like an over-the-top accessory that would ruin your otherwise awesome outfit.

I’ll give Shailene Woodley credit, though, for getting one thing right: We do need balance. And we need it fast.

This issue runs parallel to the fact that Americans take for granted their constitutional rights. The rights won in the gender equality battle--just like the rights enumerated in The Bill Of Rights, can only be maintained through constant vigilance.

"The Bureau of Justice Statistics' "Violent Victimization of College Students" report tells a different and more plausible story about campus culture. During the years surveyed, 1995-2002, the DOJ found that there were six rapes or sexual assaults per thousand per year. Across the nation's four million female college students, that comes to about one victim in forty students. Other DOJ statistics show that the overall rape rate is in sharp decline: since 1995, the estimated rate of female rape or sexual assault victimizations has decreased by about 60 percent.

Of course, there are still far too many college women who are victims of sexual assault. But there's little evidence to support the claim that campus rape is an "epidemic,"

Good column, Starshine. Here is a paradox: my experience is that the streets of Manhattan are a much more hostile place for young women than the streets of Isla Vista. Surprised me.

So does anyone care about the nigerian boys that were murdered!!

During the same time those girls were being kidnapped??

The girls are still alive while some of the boys were burned alive or shot while trying to get out of a burning house and now that story is buried and all we hear about is the "poor girls".. sad

What about them??

No one should assault anyone else. With that said:

1. It's 1:40 not 1:5 Starshine.

2. Men under report sexual assault from women by about 20x. Sexual assault is ANY unwanted sexual advance.

3. Many women's groups use victim hood mentality to gain political control and force various agendas on society via mis-leading stats and dramatic images and protests by a vocal minority.

4. There is an all out war on Men:
- higher unemployment than women
- 1/18 the spending on prostate cancer vs breast cancer despite nearly equal lethality
- parental rights (legally and societal norms)
- mandatory conscription/selective service for war
- live shorter lives
- more than 8000 grants/funds for single moms to go to college but less than 3 for single fathers
- 9 out of 10 women that read this list being dismissive of it

5. But if you protest paying for another woman's contraception via health care premiums or taxes you are at war with women. Never mind that contraception is not for health care and doesn't cure a health condition. (Except in rare instances of abnormal menses it can provide some relief).

According to the Santa Barbara Rape Crisis Center, the statistic is ONE in FOUR students WILL be sexually assaulted during their college years, and according to Take Back the Night, it's ONE in THREE.

NO means NO, even once.

Good for you, Starshine. Unless we remember and understand history, we are doomed to repeat it. The younger generation of women need to read the history of what suffering women went through so this generation of women have the freedoms they take for granted.
Statistics can be used and manipulated to support or debunk any position. What matters is we know rape is occurring in the military, in colleges, etc., and hostile attitudes against women seem to justify and minimize the crimes.
I applaud you, Starshine, for your strong article.

Yes ooshea and according to the hippopotamus crisis center, 1 in 2 hippopotamus' will be assaulted during their college years, so you better send them some money.

audidriver should remember this article, I believe he posted it some time back.

I won't say I agree with every single statement made in the article, but it is a different point of view and presents some interesting information.

http://malemattersusa.wordpress.com/2...

"73 percent of respondents whom the study characterized as rape victims said that they hadn’t been raped when asked the question directly. Forty-two percent of these supposed victims had intercourse again with their alleged assailants."

If you go out on the internet you will find that there are many feminists who believe that all PV sex is rape (PV = penis/vagina)

Then there are those who promote the idea that any woman who has sex when she is over .08 BAC is being raped. Even if both the man and woman are drunk and the female comes onto the male and initiates sex, apparently she is being raped because she is drunk (even though he is drunk as well).

Then there is the fact that sex is extremely confusing for many young women and this becomes confusing for men as well. They will ebb and flow in their decision on whether to consent to sex with a particular male and may at times lead them into thinking that they will consent. Obviously women they have every right to do this and can remove consent any time before or during the act....but sometimes they may pull that consent AFTER the fact due to regret, confusion and possibly some alcohol.. that is how we get back to the situation before.

The fact is this is all a VERY COMPLEX topic that cannot always be boiled down into something so simple.

So if all colleges and universities are full of rapists as these supposed "statistics" reveal.. why are so many women going to them??

Its a witch hunt.. and the purpose of this is to keep the money rolling in.. so keep repeating the lies.. so that they might even become the truth.

There is no patriarchy... if there was why do only men get drafted? or die earlier..or have no reproductive rights..why are men predominantly the victims of assault and murder..and rape..yes rape!!

Fact is weve all been lied to.. from the day we were born to the day we die..

I remember posting that article.. what still gets me is this.. talking about putting things in perspective!!

Parroting over 20 years worth of feminist propagandizing, the White House claims nearly 20 percent of female college undergraduates are sexually assaulted during their college years. To put that number in perspective: Detroit residents have been fleeing the city for years due to its infamous violent crime. And what constitutes an American urban crime wave? In 2012, Detroit’s combined rate for all four violent felonies that make up the FBI’s violent-crime index — murder, rape, robbery, and aggravated assault — was 2 percent. The rape rate was 0.05 percent. And yet, despite an alleged campus sexual-assault rate that is 400 times greater than Detroit’s, female applicants are beating down the doors of selective colleges in record numbers.

audidriver2010 (anonymous profile)
June 4, 2014 at 3:14 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Do you think the White House is parroting propaganda, or do they have actual statistics? Do you know? If you don't know, then how can that statement be made. Unless of course, you follow the very prevalent evidence-free thinking by too many in this supposedly educated country.

Life is all about making the best of one's abilities, so that one can be productive member of society. Kids, boys and girls, spend most of their childhood pursuing these fundamental goals, often with huge investment of both time and money by their parents. Many high schools have programs that get kids to identify what their future goals are, and assist them in getting there. I doubt that a single kid spends one minute thinking about rape when making plans for their future education, and many would have no idea of the numbers.

Yet you shallowly, and very illogically, tie college attendance statistics to rape. There are very large numbers of automobile deaths per year, yet that stops very few from buying a car. Youngsters are notorious for thinking that bad things will not happen to them, hence the concern about their enrollment numbers in Obamacare.

I think you left logic outside, and just rolled around in emotional hate. Hmmm.......

tabatha (anonymous profile)
June 4, 2014 at 4:02 p.m. (Suggest removal)

@ Tabatha.. I dont think you got me.. and its ok.

Yes there might large number of car related deaths but as far as the percentage goes.. I would guess its rather low when you think of how many people drive every day, every year for a certain time and distance and nothing ever happens.

But when people flee a city.. and its attributed to a crime wave thats some 400 times less than what is reported at higher learning places ...

And yet we dont see a drop off in girls seeking higher education..do we?

It doesnt add up.. and its not about feelings or hate.. so dont bring it into this..ok?

Wow!!

There are some men in serious and dangerous delusion and denial here.

I might suggest that anyone, male or female, who feels that men are the victims in need, must explore the concept of male privilege just a bit further than their comments indicate they have so far.

Maybe then they might be able to see a little more clearly where reality might actually exist

RobEgenolf (anonymous profile)
June 4, 2014 at 4:55 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Male privilege largely exists in the upper echelons of society. Politics, the executive board rooms and such are mostly dominated by men. Men, who are mostly married to women, fwiw. Where does that leave the other 95%+ of men? How do I as a straight male benefit from that if I'm not in the upper echelons?

The last office I worked was 80% women and they pretty much ran the place, which was fine with me, I'm just sayin.

As has been said, there is higher unemployment among men. Women naturally perform better at service sector and many office type jobs. Manufacturing jobs are disappearing.

School is designed for women.

Is School Designed More for Girls Than Boys?
"Girls tend to develop certain skills earlier than boys: for example, the ability to sit still and stay attentive. Our school day, more often than not, demands that students do just that — sit for long periods of time and listen attentively"
http://learning.blogs.nytimes.com/201...

"Despite the stereotype that boys do better in math and science, girls have made higher grades than boys throughout their school years for nearly a century, according to a new analysis published by the American Psychological Association."
http://www.apa.org/news/press/release...

Many women are with or have the option of being with men who are or would be willing to be the breadwinner or primary income earner so that they can have what is said by some to be a fulfilling job of parenting. But they often sacrifice that job and work for material gain, which is fine, but simply having the option sounds like a privilege to me.

That doesn't mean life is easier for women, we all have our strengths and weaknesses and life is very complex and different for each person. Men aren't better than women and women aren't better than men.

The problem is that I think these type of statistics are used as scare tactics by those who have control and want more control. They want a war on women AND a war on men, they want to divide and conquer. They want to take away our rights and they will throw 100 things at the wall to see what sticks. This is designed to make women terrified of men and clamouring for more daddy government. Keep listening to Obama, tabatha, he will take care of you.

Here is something my sister posted on Facebook today. I think she hits on some excellent points:

"Sometimes people do need medications...it's just knowing when that is the case.

Let's look at the bigger picture...the elephant in the room that nobody seems to be addressing: the current socioeconomic climate we live in and that these kids are growing up in.

This tormented soul definitely did have mental health issues dating back to his childhood, and his parents did NOT ignore that. I can't say that they did or didn't pursue all possible avenues to help him...I wasn't there. All I know is that they knew their son wasn't firing on all cylinders and they had him under doctor's care since the age of 9.

Now...take this kid, add in a cup of divorced parents and familial dysfunction, a powerful sense of entitlement, a life growing up around the Hollywood scene and all the money and celebrity and "beautiful people" in that world, put him in Isla Vista & UCSB and expect him to function and voila! Slashed roommates and friends, and shot-up strangers.

The aftermath becomes of course, the usual and predictable argument over the Second Amendment, an argument which has served our society so well every time something like this happens (insert heavy sarcasm here), with all the usual suspects nattering back and forth about that pet political football and of course, The Children.

We have always had knives, guns and other assorted weapons in this country. Why all of a sudden do we have this spate of killings? Why do we have so many young people...and I mean REALLY young people, killing themselves? Why do we have so much desperation and rage in our society among the young? Why, if guns are so evil, did we not have this stuff going on from Day 1?

billclausen (anonymous profile)
June 4, 2014 at 6:37 p.m. (Suggest removal)

(continued from above--part 2 of 2)
Why are so many kids on medications, when it is not always appropriate in every case? Again, SOME people NEED medications, but not all. Why are we literally tranquilizing our boys (and it IS almost always boys) into slack-jawed submission because they are "acting out"...which in 8 out of 10 cases is nothing more than boys being...well...BOYS. I don't have children, but I do raise dogs, and I am here to tell you that boy dogs are much more active, boisterous and physically demonstrative than girl dogs, going right back to the puppy box before their eyes are even open. This is what boys do. It's normal. It's healthy. Leave them the hell alone. If you can't live with boys being boys, don't have children...you might get a boy...and I'm sorry, but chemically restraining him just because it's convenient is NOT an acceptable option.

We have a lot of questions that as a society and as individuals we should be asking...and we aren't. We instead choose the direction of the herd, chanting mindless natterings about the Second Amendment and all the rest of the assorted platitudes and politically correct, socially acceptable nonsense.

And kids are still killing themselves and other people. And...it's getting WORSE.

In closing...what are we doing now that is different from what we did then? We have stricter gun control than ever, more laws than ever, and more killings and suicides than ever. It is so expensive to just exist that I wonder what these kids have to look forward to. My Dad and I had that conversation a number of times; what do today's kids have to look forward to? Working all day on your feet for minimum wage and no benefits, no chance at advancement, no shot at secure shelter, education, food, medical care, transportation and clothing? This generation will be hard pressed to even do anywhere NEAR as well as their parents financially or socially...families and neighborhoods are fragmented, the social structure is frayed, people live in their little silos, separated from our fellow humans.

And we think that taking guns and more personal freedoms away from us all is going to fix this? Anyone who believes that is welcome to contact me for information on a bridge I have for sale in San Francisco..."

That's the core of the problem Dan, the "us-against-them" mentality. Here is an alien concept: People working together for a common goal, not kissing up to what is P.C. and trying to score points with women at the expense of all men. How ironic that the same progressives who clamor for your idea cheered when Margaret Thatcher died, and certainly Sikhs were no big fans of Indira Gandhi when she was killed.

Corruption and evil can affect both sexes.

Like, a 75%+ decline.

Starshine had much more to fear when she was younger than a young girl nowadays.

Do you punish your dog when he is behaving better or do you reward them? I'm not saying men are dogs or that we should be collectively rewarded or punished for the actions of others who happen to also be men, and I'm definitely not saying any amount of rape is ok.. but let's put things in perspective. Feminist gender bigots who bite the patriarchal hand that feeds, clothes, shelters and protects em need to be tossed to the dogs. audidriver2010 - I have had, and I expect most women have had, more sexist problems in the big, bad world outside of college than at college. That does not stop any woman from joining the big, bad world outside of college. Your argument about college attendance simply has no merit.

And as for the statement of women not making it one day if they were men - I am going to make a stupid statement, too - many men would not be able to deal with what women have to deal with on a daily basis. Some men could; some could not.

And for once, I agree with loonpt on something:

"That doesn't mean life is easier for women, we all have our strengths and weaknesses and life is very complex and different for each person. Men aren't better than women and women aren't better than men."

Sealion - I don't recognize myself or any female friends or acquaintances in the descriptions you post of women. Some weird issues, there. I am sorry for whatever go you to that point.

agree with Tabatha at end of her post. Sealion, of course there are indeed "Feminist gender bigots" -- and bigots of every stripe and sort all over the globe. In terms of Western Civilization, the three Abrahamic religions are crudely patriarchal, and men have larger bodies and go violent more easily than women [note gender of the shooters; the % of males in prison, ETC]... that some women over-react and over-reach and become reverse gender bigots, that's bad. However, my point was how many splendid, intelligent, thoughtful, wise WOMEN there are and it's great for the USA when even more LEAN IN. It is also the task of the balanced great women to admonish their sisters who take the "bash the males" route, and I guess they do that, how would I know, that happens in the womens lodge.
BC, following your unity call for sharing a "common goal" , I gotta say all men are my brothers. And you're totally wrong asserting I was "kissing up to what is P.C" and playing up to the power women. If YOU wrote what I did above ("Up with the Matriarchy!"), for you that would be kissing up to PC, get it? And consider your buddy KV's important comment, "We are all Feminists now", and I've been one since the early 70s.

"We are all Feminists now. Mr. Sealion, tear down that ceiling." Only fascist female bigots and emasculated male traitors (read Biden and Obama) are feminists now. Do your homework as a male or prepare to be castrated by ignorant or intentionally evil 'rape culture' bigots like Starshine and her ilk. Your tuna is already being eaten by the Great Whites who populate the totalitarian tyranny that is our government. If you don't believe me visit Mike Buchanan's (Justice for Men and Boys) YouTube channel or attend the first international MHRM conference in Detroit later in the month...to school yourself on some very very unpleasant realities. That said, knowing your history of close-minded head in sand statements, I'm not confident that you will be able to secure you balls anytime soon.

"Sealion - I don't recognize myself or any female friends or acquaintances in the descriptions you post of women. Some weird issues, there. I am sorry for whatever go you to that point." I hope you DO recognize the bigoted 'rape culture' falsehoods trotted out by the woman in the OP above. Most of your female friends are probably just ignorant women who have swallowed the poisonous pink Kool-aide unknowingly but for men, mainstream feminism is pure tyranny. That's because we were already the Disposable Sex before a few fascist representatives of Indispensable (read coddled) 'Gender' (Sex) starting raping even more rights and resources from us using an evil Marxist ideology recycled from the trash heap of history.

Dr Dan-please do your homework on sex, gender and feminism...and the routine rape of male human rights thanks to both biology and fascist mainstream feminism. I have never seen one SB woman speak out publicly about the tyranny of mainstream gender feminism despite the fact that all of the pigheaded female politicians here are card carrying members of said totalitarian titterdom. You simply cannot be a man or be a brother to men as long as you ascribe to an evil ideology (gender feminism) which is about destroying men and boys AS men and boys. That's not personal. It's just intended to induce you dig in and do your homework on the world's largest and most officially coddle hate movement.

Rob and Dan, you both need to stop the stupid feminist shame games...and acknowledge/address some very very unpleasant realities...or you will be colluding in the destruction of your very own Sex. Erin Pizzey's 'Evil Empire' needs to be totally destroyed: http://www.avoiceformen.com/education... if men and women are ever going to get back to some sort of constructive cooperation. Hopefully, her story and professional help as a fine old female survivor of said evil empire will do you some serious good. Otherwise, you will probably remain hopeless male flunkies marinated in mean spirited anti-male tyranny forever. Your choice, of course, but don't expect respect from either men or (decent) women as traitorous male toadies...given that you damn well do have good opportunities to know better now.

As for Starshine, there are simply no legitimate or honest points for me or for Mr. Audidriver TO validate because she is merely parroting pigheaded 'rape culture' propaganda here. Her 'we do need balance.' call is particularly hilarious in a world in which fascist feminist bigots have made sure that female forms of rape are not even defined as rape in the FBI's new definition of the term. Who really is self victimizing here?

P.S. Please do note that even fascist feminists bigots need to have their right to free speech protected...ironically a right they routinely rape from anti-feminists, MRHM's, and 16 year old female 'terrorists' at UCSB. Therefore, I'm NOT suggesting that we LEGALLY ban feminist bigots from screaming shamelessly stupid slogans, from sharing utterly fraudulent stats, or from proudly strutting their stuff as SlutWalking whores in public. Such 'lovely' behavior from the most twisted totalitarian members of the female Sex is hugely helpful in sorting through the mess feminists have made of womanhood in general...and always deserves to be protected as a fundamental shared right whatever the reason.

Bill Clausen:

Do me a favor. Tune in to the peril that ANY minority of evil but influential fascist bigots represent...and play your part in dismantling their evil empire. Since there is NOT a SINGLE woman in SB who PUBLICLY states that she is NOT like that...and tons of proud public women like Starshine, or like our infamous Gaucho porn professor who are like that...and who are backed by the 'progressive' PC powers from behind the scenes...and since there is not a single man in SB who directly confronts this bigoted anti-male hate movement in public...I've got good reason to be disgusted and outraged...as should be any 'peace and love' man or woman with half a brain. When said group has subjugated most of the lame stream faux-liberal press, captured both ruling puppets in the White House, and cowed the (even more dangerous) traditionalist opposition political party into submission with ironically idiotic accusations of a War On Women, it's long past time to take this threat to our democracy, to our shared humanity, and to our shared manhood seriously.

The majority of women (and men, sadly) in SB seem to be brainwashed boobs as far as sex and gender are concerned. That's because these are very personally and politically loaded topics...topics which our favorite feminist bigots have exploited 'mistressly' for propaganda purposes. Goebbels would have been proud.

Confronting these totalitarian twits has got to one of the most tedious intellectual exercises anyone can undertake. That's because they have been discredited everywhere, because they make the same stupid, dishonest, and utterly fraudulent arguments over and over and over, and because they prove their inability to compete as 'gendered' intellectual equals every time they open their mouths. Therefore, it'd be real nice if men like you would deign to step in to help drain their estrogen sewer.

Please stop worrying about me becoming a male version of the violent anti-male hater...one who is STILL openly worshipped by these mainstream bigots...and join those of us here who are confronting the world's most officially coddled hate movement. Only by pitching in together with our potent masculine mental pumps will we be able to drain this particular poisonous 'progressive' sewer. The stakes couldn't be higher for men and boys as long as these progressive bigots are able to control the official narratives about men and boys: http://www.avoiceformen.com/men/boys/...

audidriver2010 - absolutely agree. The sooner the person is more important than their gender, the more civilized the world will be. The sooner the person rather than their looks is more important, ditto.

I have seen abuse by both genders in my life. On the female side, it was not because of feminism, but because of a poor upbringing that severely damaged the soul where everything from the male seemed like an attack, and self-esteem was only fostered by wearing the pants, so to speak. .

I would suggest that if the problems of people were better understood and treated, it would not devolve into gender specific issues - because there are damaged individuals of both genders who often inflict their problems on the opposite gender. One side sees it as feminism, the other as male harassment.

Less vitriol and more discussion would be more productive.

Its no wonder the Rodger Elliot's of the world develop their tormented thought processes. Extremism in any form should be suspect. That said you can be sure that I don't give a blank about your ridicule...and I never crave attention from brainwashed boobs...particularly from MALE boobs like you.

FYI: the definition I offered you above was adapted from Spreading Misandry...the first tome in an erudite trilogy on feminist inspired misandry by Paul Nathanson and Katherine Young. Spreading Misandry, Legalizing Misandry and Sanctifying Misandry are the best books out there which deconstruct the evil ideology you worship so blindly. Undressing Feminism (ugh) by Klein, Professing Feminism by Patai and Who Stole Feminism by Hoff Sommers provide solid reinforcement for N&Y's scholarship as well.

That said since you've been living in the PoMo estrogen sewer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XHiqX... for forty three years, and worshipping women who most assuredly never told you about your OWN biological and social disposability as a male (boob) for fifty, I don't imagine you will ever bother to STUDY anything intended to destroy your pigheaded programming. Audi what exactly is the bs you are putting up with? Don't link me, nutshell it in one or two short sentences. I can't shame you, that emotion comes only from within.

Sealion: "male suffering"? I understand you may feel that way and have good reason. It's just not the majority opinion. Elliot Rodger formed his world view in somewhat of a vacuum based on a few unfavorable(to him) interactions and then used the Internet to bolster his malformed opinions. Maybe you are doing something similar. Are you somewhat reclusive? A tad anti-social? The world is not against you, and your opinions are merely points of view but there is no questioning your humanity and intrinsic goodness.

I think you are both completely talking past each other and as the saying goes I don't think you can judge a book by its cover (or title) so it would be very tough for me to say.

I do think the youtube video I posted above makes some good points regarding the dynamic of the disposability of men in society, in the past as well as how it affects us in modern times and how it has translated into virtually a form of slavery.....although I think we are all slaves in many senses that have nothing to do with gender and this is just one aspect of our slavery. I wouldn't say that women are the slavemasters or drivers and certainly would not blame them individually for our current state, but they are in some ways the beneficiaries.

I am probably a little sexist in that I generally like women more than men (maybe like 55/45 ratio, I like to do stuff with guys too), but I think there is a strong argument to be made that society tends to unjustly coddle females and demonize men (However I also think that there are things some women are unjustly demonized for). This is coming from someone who voluntarily coddles a certain female through my own volition, and I have no problem with people doing that on their own accord. However if I don't find the appreciation I feel I deserve then I have the freedom to leave that relationship if I choose. By giving everybody more freedom I think this situation would resolve to a better equilibrium, but of course that is what I always say.

Feminists like to talk a lot about the wage gap, and even though their methodology is flawed and it turns out they make about the same amount for the same work, they sure don't like to bring up things like the 93% workplace death gap.

Also, I'd be more interested in a 'spending' gap than a wage gap. How much money do women SPEND vs. men? Dave Chappelle is famous for having a comedy skit where he says that most men would be happy having sex with a woman and living in a cardboard box, but he buys the house to get the woman. That may be exaggerated, but how many men here were pressured into buying a nicer house because of the woman they are with?

However even if you split housing among all of the occupants equally, what would a spending report in this country look like? With healthcare? Without health care? I think the results might be surprising.

DrD. Only in fascist academic covens like GWS do popularity contests work to judge scholarship. Your primary problem is that I'm rich with wisdom from genuine women who condemn fascist female tyrants (mainstream feminists). Wonderful women naturally tend to be vociferously anti feminist.

Eggs---In the fantastical feminist world in which reality is turned upside down, the majority opinion means little. However as Loon notes above males, NOT females, are the Disposable Sex. We just coddle the already Indispensable 'Gender' so assiduously and unconsciously that we are not even aware how many infantile entitlements flow one way to women and girls.

Loon---Male Disposability means that men are likely to be more respected than liked. Female Indispensability means that women are more likely to be liked than respected. All for very good biological reasons too...something that three decades of fascist feminist sociology hasn't changed one whit.

I've read some Paglia, of course, and in fact use her GLITTERING IMAGES in my classes. This description is good, Paglia is "a writer in a category of her own... a feminist who hates affirmative action; an atheist who respects religion" and "a Democrat who thinks her party doesn't get it." Martha Duffy writes that Paglia "advocates a core curriculum based mostly on the classics " I also advocate such a curriculum, and have no fear of featuring goodly numbers of old dead white men, as the phrase goes.

it is my understanding, audidriver, that with the historic patriarchal dominance in the USA, and women being barred from most of the heavier "professional" universities and schools, somehow it was socially acceptable for some ladies to run libraries and become teachers at local public schools. Barred (mostly) from becoming medical doctors, lawyers, college profs, high government mucky-mucks, thoughtful and intelligent women who wanted a life outside the home could more easily become nurses, schoolteachers, and librarians. Remember Marian the Librarian? Or the older schoolmarm in the little Red Schoolhouse? There was a spinster women who taught about 14 farm students at MANZANA SCHOOLHOUSE about 1900 or 1901 -- pay horrible, living conditions horrible, this was her professional and independent position.
Thus, it is less about men leaving the teaching profession than women finding an oasis of professional acceptance there, mostly in elementary school. Also, today, some men fear working in a female-heavy system; I've done this over 35 years and have suffered little of what you allege. However, you do have a good point that even one small, spurious "charge" can ruin a reputation or a career.

DrDan (anonymous profile)
June 12, 2014 at 1:14 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Those women if anything werent "barred because they were women.. they were barred because they were competition to men who already had jobs and careers and were probably the sole breadwinners for their families.. and they didnt want or need anyone competing for their positions.. Do you think many women were the breadwinners for their families 50-60-70 years ago or are we talking about the present?? When people point out how bad it was for women at a certain time in history.. it wasnt much better usually for men either... So men held better more prestigiouss jobs than women ...and protected said jobs.. I would too if I was the provider for my family.. and sure anyone else would too.

The persecution complex is a set of shackles that can be loosed. You guys are certainly feeling sorry for yourselves, and you're angry because of this and that. Carrying that sort of emotional baggage is a heavy load and i sympathize; I've got plenty of my own so i understand your pain. My overall point is that you are choosing to deal with it in a very reactionary way that is dragging your souls into a hell of your own choosing. Feeding the angst is some internet propaganda that you are choosing to spoon feed yourselves as it bolsters the worldview you have adopted. You are guilty of buying into a sham that sends you further from your true nature. Be angry.....then let go of that anger.

Most of the men that post here.. and you know who you are of course.. need to wake up.. because your master and her ilk have convinced you that your "free" but youre not.. youre much like the wild animal thats been in a cage for so long.. sadly peering out at a world that you use to proudly be a part of..inventing, building, discovering, protecting, sacrificing for.. and now you apologize to your captor.. begging for sex. a new toy, or a spot in the garage to call your own, or the postponement of some other type of punishment she may deal out if YOU dont do what SHE wants.
The cage door is open and you just sit there..too afraid to even think about going outside.. because we all know youve been broken..

Stand up for yourself...tell your master no!.. and watch the eyes roll back into their sockets as they look around in disbelief as their "slave" slips the chains off.. breaking free of the shame, guilt, and pain.. thats been driven into him because he is just a "man" and responsible for all the war, greed, and evil in the world...and you will know freedom my friend!

And where do all these "bad men" come from??

Probably raised by single moms.. yep I said it!!

Most likely fed a steady diet of "men=bad" from the day they are born.. by their mom..so when they are older they will feel so much guilt over being a man.. barely a man by the way.. that they have children with the most undesireable female that you can think of. and then the cycle repeats again!
The mom will get all tatted up and then when shes in here late 30's decide that she ready for "a real Man" when shes basically all used up and so jaded that no decent guy would ever sign up to see that train wreck!!

Women control the gateway to creation and most just throw it away by having kids with dbags.
