The search continues for 22-year-old Isaiah Sanchez of El Rio after he disappeared in Lake Cachuma almost a week ago. Sanchez was last seen at around 8 p.m. on July 11 as he and another man attempted to swim to shore after their boat experienced engine problems.

For the past several days, the Santa Barbara County Air Support Unit has been conducting periodic flyovers of the area in hopes of finding Sanchez, said Sheriff’s spokesperson Kelly Hoover. The Sheriff’s dive team was called off their original search because of zero visibility, but they may be re-deployed if conditions improve, Hoover said.

County park rangers are conducting surface patrols with sonar equipment, and several lifeguards have also been called to help with visual searches. County Fire personnel on jet skis are looking in the shallow areas as well.
