Santa Barbara and Ventura Area High School Musical Awards Kicks off at the New Vic

Ensemble Theatre Company (ETC), in conjunction with the Santa Barbara Independent, the Santa Barbara Foundation, the Rubicon Theater, the Santa Barbara Bowl Foundation and the Nederlander Organization, is presenting the inaugural Santa Barbara Independent High School Musical Theater Awards. This awards competition has been created to bring talented students in musical theater into a professional theater environment in the downtown Historic Theater District. Local area high schools will showcase talented young actors on ETC’s New Vic professional stage, while presenting a competition that will take the top two students first to Los Angeles and then possibly to New York to compete on a national level.

The event will take place at the New Vic on Monday, April 28 at 7:00 pm, for a celebration revue featuring 11 talented teens that have been selected to represent their high schools from Santa Barbara and Ventura counties. The teens will perform and compete in front of a panel of judges.
