Local band, Maheekats, will be playing a concert to raise funds for The Fender Music Foundation. The event will be held at Roy Restaurant at 7 W Carrillo St., Downtown Santa Barbara on Friday, September 27th from 8 – 12 midnight. The Maheekats are scheduled to play twice throughout the night.

There will be no cover charge for this event. However, the Maheekats do suggest donating in one of the two donation boxes, and also picking up some more information on the Fender Music Foundation. “No amount is too small or too big!” Clara emphasizes. They’ll be accepting instrument donations as well.

“We are really excited about supporting the Fender Music Foundation” says Clara Hembree of Maheekats. “Music education is something we feel strongly about for the future of music and the world. We feel that music is an essential part of learning and should absolutely be taught in all grade level schools. Learning music engages the young brain with new thinking pathways; helps to create positive thinking and ultimately creates a better world.”

The Fender Music Foundation an independent 501c3 organization, that since its inception in 2005 has reached over 187,000 people through its grants of musical instruments and equipment. These resources allow music program directors and teachers across the country to grow and strengthen their important programs. The organizations the Foundation reaches include schools, community centers, nonprofits that help those in-need or at-risk, hospitals, prisons and rehabilitation centers, all teaching music to those who would not otherwise have the opportunity. This work is only possible because of thoughtful contributions from people and corporations throughout the world. A partial list of their prominent supporters include artists such as Flea, Randy Jackson, Hugh Laurie, James Denton, Mick Fleetwood, Danny Seraphine, Billy Gibbons and Carlos Santana.
