The Black Cat Ball Solstice fundraiser is planned for Friday, November 1, from 7:30 – to midnight, at Butler Event Center, 3744 State Street in Santa Barbara.

“The Black Cat Ball is back… this year it will be bigger and more fun with more cash prizes for the best costumes. It‘s also Day of the Dead so there will be some interesting altars and artwork on display. Come enjoy a great evening and support Summer Solstice! “ urged Executive Director Claudia Bratton.

The Rock N’ Blues Band will play danceable music and DJ Dave McIntire will be spinning tunes for the remainder of the evening.

The costume contest will have cash prizes for the best costume, the best cat in the show, the best group costume and best Steampunk costume.

Tickets purchased before the event are $15 and can be bought online at www.solsticeparade.com or by calling 805-965-3396. You must be 21 to attend. Tickets are also available at two locations in Santa Barbara where you can find costumes: Bizerk at 432 State Street, and Victorian Vogue at 4289 State Street. Tickets will also be available at the door for $20 or $17 (in costume).

There will be appetizers, desserts and a no host bar.

All proceeds benefit Summer Solstice, non-profit 501(c)3 corporation that produces the Solstice Parade, Solstice Festival and the Solstice Community Arts Workshop from donations, sponsorships, and events like the Black Cat Ball. The 2014 Summer Solstice will be June 21, 22, and 23.
