On Tuesday, October 22, the Board of Directors of Visiting Nurse & Hospice Care hosted the 2013 Chairman’s Council Reception to thank the agency’s top contributors for their significant and ongoing financial support. This evening reception welcomed over 80 guests and featured remarks by longtime supporters Jack and Julie Nadel, who in 2008 started the Elly Nadel Music Therapy Program in honor of Jack’s late wife Elly.

Elly was a VNHC hospice patient and a musician herself, and her husband Jack recognized the important role that therapeutic music played in Elly’s hospice care. Today, the Elly Nadel Music Therapy Program is one of VNHC’s Integrative Therapies that helps patients and their families relax and reach a sense of peace and comfort when medical treatment no longer offers a cure.

“At this annual Chairman’s Council Reception, we honor and thank our key stakeholders in a personal way,” said Rick Keith, Executive Director of the VNHC Foundation. “The critical work we do in the community is made possible by their continued support.”

In addition to hearing from the Nadel’s and learning about VNHC’s music therapy, guests enjoyed beautiful music from Stefana Dadas, the coordinator of the Elly Nadel Music Therapy Program, as well as fine wine and hors d’oeuvres at the Montecito Country Club. Guests were also reminded about the history of their support and what it has meant to patients and families served by VNHC. The financial support and commitment of Chairman’s Council members make it possible for VNHC to provide the highest quality home health, hospice and related services, and enables VNHC to be there for patients when they’re needed most.
