Westmont Mourns the Death of Dallas Willard

Westmont is remembering the life and teachings of American philosopher Dallas Willard who died May 8 at the age of 77 following a battle with cancer. Willard taught at USC since 1965 and wrote many spiritual formation books including “Renovation of the Heart,” “The Spirit of the Disciplines” and “The Divine Conspiracy.”

Santa Barbara, CA (May 2013) – On Monday, May 13 The Natural Café® will celebrate its 20th Anniversary at its original State Street location with free food and music. Between 12pm and 8pm, the popular downtown café – quintessentially known for its delicious, healthy meals – will provide free entrées for dine-in only, serving select menu options that include grilled Chicken Caesar, char-broiled Turkey Burger, Cabo Fish Tacos, Veggie Stir-fry and a variety of other Natural Café favorites.

The Community Action Commission (CAC) of Santa Barbara County is pleased to announce the appointment of Robert Freeman, CEO of CenCal Health, to the CAC Board of Directors

Mr. Freeman also serves on the Board of Directors of the California Association of Health Insuring Organizations – the association of the six county organized health systems in California. He is also the president of the Doorway to Health Foundation – the non-profit foundation that administers the “Healthy Kids” program in Santa Barbara County.

ohn Bowers Receives UCSB Faculty’s Top Honor

John Bowers, professor of electrical and computer engineering and of materials at UC Santa Barbara, has been named Faculty Research Lecturer for 2013. The award is the highest bestowed by the university on one of its faculty, and Bowers is being recognized for his “groundbreaking scholarship, outstanding research contributions and scientific leadership.”
