Dingle, Ireland

Dingle, a wee town on the West Coast of Ireland, was designated as one of Santa Barbara’s sister cities in January 2003. Dingle shares similarities to our fair town — fishing, agriculture, tourism, and natural beauty define the city. National Geographic has called the village, located in County Kerry, “one of the most beautiful places on earth.” Also, Dingle is part of the Gaeltacht region, which means Irish is the predominantly spoken language in the area, followed by English.

GET INVOLVED: The S.B. Sister Cities Board meets the first Wednesday of every other month at noon in Conference Room 15, City Hall, 735 Anacapa Street. To get involved with the Dingle faction, contact Michael Fitzgerald at (516) 429-9710 or MFitzgerald@gmail.com. For more on Dingle, visit dingle-peninsula.ie.
