Circle V Ranch Campers participated in “Flutes Across the World” Project for the first time in 2011 as well as in 2012.

WHO:

Led by award-winning composer, musician and artist/educator John Zeretzke, 150 Circle V Ranch Campers ages 7-13 will each be making two recorder-style folk flutes—one to keep and one to give away to a child in Haiti.

WHAT:

In specially designed workshop sessions at Circle V Ranch Camp, all campers will learn how to sand, shape, decorate and then play their flutes. Each give-away flute will contain a note from the camper to the child in Haiti. At a future date, John Zeretzke will accompany the give-away flutes on a music mission of good will to Haiti.

WHEN:

Tuesday, July 23 AND Wednesday, July 24, 2013— 10:00 a.m. to Noon, and 2:00- 4:00 p.m. (hourly sessions)

Note: sessions are not open to the public; this is a media-only invitation

WHY:

This is an opportunity for 150 Circle V campers to connect, in a uniquely caring and educational way, with children from Haiti and to communicate the happiness and learning that occurs when children give other children the gift of music. Experience the wonderful world of music through the visual designs and colorful patterns of children decorating, then playing their flutes, lead by John Zeretzke in a beautiful, natural setting in Santa Barbara County.

BACKGROUND NOTE: In July 2011, the first time this special program was offered here, Circle V Ranch campers created more than 100 flutes that were delivered to Haitian children in May 2012 by Mr. Zeretzke. In July 2012, more than 150 flutes were created at Circle V Ranch Camp and will be delivered along with 2013 flutes this fall.
