Santa Ynez, CA Santa Ynez Pony Baseball hosted the 6-day 2013 Southern California West Zone, North Region Sectional and District Baseball Tournament at the local Santa Ynez baseball complex on Pine Street in Santa Ynez. The tournament began on June 25.

The tournament included twenty youth baseball teams competing from Southern California. Five teams in the Bronco Division competed for the division title, which came down to the championship game on Tuesday night, July 2, between Santa Ynez and Santa Barbara. Santa Ynez took the lead early in the contest, ultimately winning in the bottom of 7 innings with a score of 10-1. “Wow, what a game, what a great team… so proud or our boys” said Santa Ynez Bronco All-Star head coach Greg Ray at the conclusion of the game.

Santa Ynez Pony Baseball, Inc., is a local non-profit organization operated through a 100% volunteer effort and is the local charter for the national PONY (Protect Our Nations Youth) Baseball program, which started in 1951.

PONY Baseball was developed for all youth players (Boys and Girls) to enable participation in the game of baseball with the goal of protecting our nation’s youth as they grow into young men and women and leaders of tomorrow.
