San Luis Obispo Symphony String Orchestra at Mission San Miguel

The great California Missions and their inhabitants produced not only radical social and economic transformation, but also glorious music. Cal Poly musicologist and composer Dr. Craig Russell spent months combing through Mission archives for what became the DNA of his piece Ecos Armónicos (aka Harmonic Echoes), a blend of the past with a decidedly modern flair. And the San Luis Obispo Symphony Chamber Players, featuring violin soloist Shunské Sato, will perform the piece this weekend, along with Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons, at Mission San Luis Obispo De Tolosa, Mission San Miguel, and Mission Santa Barbara. (1/12 @ San Miguel, 2:30; and @ SLO, 8:00; 1/13 @ Santa Barbara, 3pm)
