Roller Derby returned to Santa Barbara Saturday night Nov. 7, 2009 where the Mission City Brawlin' Betties defeated the West Coast Derby Knockouts 184-40
They’re baaaaack! Yep, it’s roller derby season once again, and Santa Barbara’s own Brawlin’ Betties will chew up and spit out their first opponent — the Inland Empire Derby Divas — this weekend. According to their website, “Every Brawlin' Bettie is an athlete, a pin-up girl, a rocker, and a brute rolled into one badass derby girl.” Watch these Betties roller skate round the rink, wreaking havoc. Gates open at 4:30 p.m., and the game starts at 5 p.m. on Saturday, March 2, at Earl Warren Showgrounds, 3400 Calle Real. Those with presale tickets (available at Palmieri’s, 1431 San Andres St.) can get in at 4 p.m. For more information, visit brawlinbetties.com.

One thing I don't like about the "modern" skating is the rink is not a true "rink"......there's no "banking". They skate on concrete where they draw lines on so that they can show the "oval" rink.
Consequently they can't "brawl" because of the "insecurity" of no bank AND no rails to hold on to.
I understand one of the California teams has finally MADE a traveling "banked" roller rink but I don't know which team.

It's still a hockey rink. :-) And the oval the girls skate on is the track. The Betties are a flat track team. There are plenty of banked track teams as well. Los Angeles Derby Dolls (LADD) and San Diego Derby Dolls (SDDD) being two of them. Check them out sometime. LA is not that far away.
