Bertoli started the program in November and is building a following. “I love that I can answer one person’s question and serve so many more people,” she said. “One person’s question can touch the lives of hundreds of people, and soon thousands.”

“I Want a Better Life” is live each Wednesday at 9 a.m. Pacific time. Listeners may call in at (347) 326-9625 or by going to the show’s webpage: blogtalkradio.com/IWantABetterLife.

Bertoli has a doctorate from Florida State University in marriage and family therapy and a master’s from East Carolina University in child development and family relations. She opened a Santa Barbara office in August after leaving her 11-year practice in Washington, D.C. While on the East Coast, Bertoli specialized in working with high-conflict couples who were on the brink of breaking up and those dealing with affairs.

Now, Bertoli specializes in teaching people to live with an entirely different life focus. “So many are ready, so many have been ignoring the inner callings of their hearts and are ready to change their lives,” she said.

She explained the format of her radio program: “Each week we have a different topic for the show,” Bertoli said. “I do lots of shows on families, dealing with various relationships (such as love relationships, co-workers, friends and people who bug you), and on living a deeper, more fulfilling life.”

Callers discuss grieving, how to leave old relationships in the past, and many other topics, Bertoli said. “For the first five minutes or so, I talk about some topic that has been on my mind or in the news,” the host said. “My goal is to help listeners learn of a new way to deal with various life circumstances. After that, the lines are open and I take calls for the rest of the hour.”

Bertoli said, “Although I am a licensed marriage and family therapist in Washington, D.C., and New Mexico, I am not licensed in California where the show is broadcast from. I have been licensed and practicing for more than 11 years and developing my intuitive abilities for the past four years.”
