Free Home Energy Efficiency Coach in Santa Barbara

Make 2013 a Winning Energy Year With a Personal Coach from emPowerSBC now available to SB County Homeowners

In the New Year, many of us have great intentions to improve our health and wellbeing and what better place to start such improvements than in our homes? Now, a special service from the County of Santa Barbara is making it easier for single-family homeowners to be more energy-efficient and comfortable in 2013.

The emPowerSBC program has recently added Jason Scheurer to its team to serve as an “energy coach” for local homeowners seeking advice on how to make their homes more efficient, safe and healthy. Jason will be available to meet with homeowners’ free of charge either in-person or over the phone to provide personalized one-on-one technical support. Most importantly, Jason will work side-by-side with the homeowner throughout the process, making what can be a confusing and stressful process much simpler.

Jason brings over 25 years of experience in the construction and energy efficiency field to local homeowners and is considered an industry leader. He discovered his passion in green building, earning more than 10 certifications in green building practices that he uses to benefit homeowners who take advantage of the emPowerSBC program.

“We are so thrilled to have Jason onboard,” said Angie Hacker, emPowerSBC program manager. “Making home energy upgrades can seem like a daunting task and many homeowners just do not know where to start. The Energy Coach service offers them the opportunity to get educatedabout energy and receive unbiased suggestions. That way they are better informed when they start talking with contractors.”

In 2009, Jason built one of the first “Net Zero Energy Homes” in Orange County, an accomplishment that garnered him awards, media attention and industry recognition. Jason has worked with green product manufacturers, contractors, city officials, building inspectors, developers, homeowners and communities to help them understand the importance of energy efficiency and the role building green plays in creating a healthier, safer and environmentally friendly lifestyle, home, community and world.

Jason is anxious to help Santa Barbara homeowners reduce their energy use and carbonfootprints.

“I’m so excited to be working with the County of Santa Barbara’s emPowerSBC program,” he said. “My mission is to help homeowners make smart decisions when considering energy efficiency improvements to their homes. I’m excited to use my experience to help make local homes safe, comfortable and efficient-I’m ready to get started!”
