Criminal proceedings against Gary Working, accused of setting fire to a United States flag at the Bankruptcy Court on State Street in December, have been suspended, according to the prosecutor in the case. Working will be sent to a state hospital until he is restored to competency to stand trial.

According to police, Working cut down a flag at the bankruptcy building and set it on fire by burning it with a lighter. Working, who said he was homeless, allegedly told officers he burned the flag because he was upset at the Oval Office for not being more active in helping war veterans.
