Holiday Art Show and Reception Takes Place December 13
The Architectural Foundation of Santa Barbara’s annual Kids Draw Architecture program teaches children about the architectural beauty of Santa Barbara by hosting a series of educational outings each year. “It’s so magical just to sit down with a piece of paper and a pencil in a quiet environment and draw a beautiful building,” explained Cassandra Ensberg, vice president of the foundation. “The kids feel very proud of themselves for what they have created, and it boosts their self-confidence.” That’s also because the process is unique. “It’s not a formal lesson where a teacher takes the kids through it step-by-step,” said Ensberg. “It’s just a free and creative way for children to just be there and draw.”
Select pieces of the artwork created by these little Picassos will be on display at the Architectural Foundation Gallery (229 E. Victoria St.) through January 10. A reception takes place Friday, December 13, 5-7 p.m. Call (805) 965-6307 or visit afsb.org for info.
