A 19-year-old Santa Ynez woman was killed Saturday evening when she was ejected from the bed of a truck that flipped over on Ballard Canyon Road, about three miles north of Solvang. The 16-year-old male driver was traveling northbound at an unknown speed near Calk Hill Road when he somehow lost control, overturning the 2003 Toyota Tacoma. Three passengers in the truck’s bed were thrown out, including the deceased victim, who was pronounced dead at the scene. The other two suffered moderate injuries, as did the three people in the cab, who were all wearing seat belts. The CHP arrested the driver, but declined to release his name or what he has been charged with. The name of the victim was also withheld.
