Amazing Grace Llanos gets a fluoride treatment from dental student Charles Woodward Jr.

About 600 families availed themselves of the multiple medical screening services available at the Westside Health Fair — free of charge — last Saturday at Bohnett Park and the Westside Boys & Girls Club. Participants were given mock passports upon entry, which they had to get stamped by various health service providers on hand in order to enjoy the free food offered — not to mention access to the jolly jumpers and raffle tickets for Disneyland, laptops, and vacation getaways. Health-care providers offered free screening for diabetes and glaucoma, among other things, but the fluoride treatment — as shown here — was the biggest hit. The event was organized by Thrive, the City of Santa Barbara, the Boys & Girls Club, and Supervisor Salud Carbajal.
