There will a battle of the unbeatens at Dos Pueblos High’s Scott O’Leary Stadium on Friday night, but one of the teams is more unbeaten than the other. Both the Lompoc Braves and Dos Pueblos Chargers are 3-0 in this high school football season. Lompoc is coming off a perfect 2011 season (14-0) and brings a 23-game winning streak into the showdown. The L.A. Times ranks the Braves No. 15 in the Southland. They feature one of the state’s top running backs in Lavon Coleman, a 5’11” 210-pounder who is averaging better than 150 yards a game. The Chargers’ rookie head coach Nate Mendoza is a Lompoc graduate.

SBCC seeks its first football victory of the season Friday night at La Playa Stadium against visiting Compton College. Representing the home team in the pregame coin toss will be honorary Vaquero captain Abraham Moreno, a Santa Barbara Special Olympics athlete. SBCC’s ticket prices are $5 general admission; $3 students and seniors; children under 5 free.
