After close to a month of investigation, Santa Barbara police detectives arrested two women allegedly running a lively heroin trade from their neighboring homes on Cook Avenue.

Regina Trujillo, 53, was arrested for possession of heroin for sale and conspiracy to sell heroin after a search warrant turned up 30 bindles of heroin and $5,258 in cash in her 718 Cook Avenue home. Maria Robles, 46 years old and Trujillo’s immediate neighbor at 717 Cook Avenue, was arrested for heroin sales and conspiracy to sell heroin after police observed her actively dealing the drug.

According to the SBPD report, Robles would reportedly receive the drug from Trujillo before meeting customers and making sales. Deputies also arrested several of the duo’s customers for possession of heroin or soliciting the sale of heroin.

The women’s activities had not gone unnoticed by the surrounding community, and SBPD spokesperson Riley Harwood said the department was thanked several times by area residents for bringing a halt to the drug trade on the street. Robles and Trujillo were both booked into the County Jail on $30,000 bail.
