A 41-year-old homeless woman is in critical condition after she was hit by a car on lower Milpas Street near Quinientos Street.

The accident occurred at around 7:30 p.m. when the woman, riding a bicycle, was hit by a Dodge Charger travelling northbound, said Sgt. Mike McGrew.

The victim suffered severe head trauma and is on life support. It’s not yet clear if she was riding across the road or travelling with traffic, but there’s no indication the driver was under the influence. He’s been fully cooperative with authorities, said McGrew.

Investigators are currently on the scene piecing together the details of the accident. The victim’s name won’t be released until her family is notified.

CORRECTION: A previous version of this story referenced an edhat.com blog post about a vehicle vs. bicycle collision that occurred at approximately 7:30 p.m. Tuesday night that also left the bicyclist with severe head injuries. The incident edhat.com reported on, however, occurred at a completely separate location and is unrelated to this story. We apologize for the confusion.

There were two seprate incidents. One at Canon Perdido and De La Vina where a bicyclist was hit by a hit and run driver and suffered head injuries. The other at Milpas and Quientos that was reported over the scanner as a pedestrian vs a vehicle they occured around the same time. Radio Shack carries hand held police scanners maybe you should purchase one. Instead of blaiming bloggers when you think you are right.

But Edhat scanner guy reports always are so clear and full of specific details.

You should apologize directly to Roger Dodger for stealing his work, misinterpreting it, and them blaming him for it.

@John_Adams that sounds snarky but it's true ... his reports ARE clear and full of specific details -- as clear and specific as the scanner reports he monitors.

John Adams, in this case the specific street names were very clear, De La Vina and Canon Perdido. Not Milpas, nor anywhere near.

EdHat/Roger Dodger actually won the Indy Reader Poll for Best Local Website. Can't really say you're up to date if you don't know it!
I find info there that takes all the rest days if not a week to report.

All of the above commits are so irrelevant! Two people got seriously hurt and you want to blame the news reporting of the events? Really! It is a hard thing to follow even if you think you were given the best info. You all need to get a life!

Edhat actually won that Roger Dodger is not mentioned I hear after each report poor Roger is locked in a closet with a scanner and computer and not allowed to sleep. Right now the poor man is down with a horrible case of Bukowski disease or bleeding hemorrhoids. Thank You Ken

We can now safely assume that the commenter "Byrd" is in fact Roger Scanner.

ItSnot correct to make an ass out of u and me.

Another pedestrian or bicyclists about to die on the streets and our police set their priorities at immigrants and bacteria vendors.

They should fly the Jolly Roger at the El Paseo Nuevo, it looks like the Pirates of the Caribbean already.

"You all need to get a life!" @miked442

Always gives me a chuckle when someone takes the time to write a post criticizing people for how they use their time.

Yep, based on Byrd's followup (odd syntax, sense of humor, non-denial denial, deliberate and inadvertent misspellings) it's crystal clear:

Byrd = Roger the Scanner

It also helps to understand and know the Police 10 & 11 codes when they report these incidents, it gives the listener the ability to understand the answers after the code is used, example: 10-4 = Acknowledged / OK.
