After 15 years of playing in music venues around the globe, the Goleta-born punk rock band Lagwagon finally returned to its roots at the end of February to play an electrifying sold-out show at Velvet Jones. Die-hard fans came from near and far to watch lead singer Joey Cape tear up the stage alongside guitarists Chris Flippin and Chris Rest, drummer Dave Raun, and bass player Joe Raposo. The show marked the band’s first hometown show in over 15 years, their last S.B. stop taking place back in 1995 at the Carrillo Recreational Center. The band began their Friday night set with the song “Kids Don’t Like to Share,” from their 1995 album Hoss, and continued with songs from their first five albums throughout the night.

Lagwagon formed in Goleta in 1990 and has transitioned between side projects, tours, and hiatuses for the past 12 years. After signing to Fat Mike’s Fat Wreck Chords label, Lagwagon released their debut album Duh in 1992. Since then, Lagwagon has released seven albums and toured in Europe, Australia, and Japan.
