If you’ve had your ear to the ground in recent months, chances are you’ve caught wind of FIDLAR. The L.A. punks with the acronymic name have been gaining plenty of positive press of late. (L.A. Weekly recently named them the best punk band in Los Angeles.) Better still, they’ve been holding tight to their street-kid cred, releasing vinyl-only seven-inches and championing the house party scene on an almost-weekly basis. On DIYDUI the guys give us in-your-face, scream-along–ready numbers about, well, the finer things in life. Album opener “Wake, Bake, Skate” sums it up pretty nicely, while freebie “Max Can’t Surf” is all open-chord catchiness, calling to mind the earliest (and best) Wavves albums. If you want to catch ’em live, FIDLAR plays the Biko Co-Op Garage in Isla Vista on Sunday, February 26, at 7:30 p.m. Visit sbdiy.org for info.
