The Board of Education voted to spend $500,000 of developer fees in order to complete the expansion of Santa Barbara High School’s Multimedia Arts and Design (MAD) Academy, but not before a tongue-lashing from Trustee Ed Heron, who said, he “resented” not being apprised of changes as the project grew both in size and budget. In the end, though, he voted with the rest of the board for the project which will also be used for teacher meetings and free up space for the computer science program while allowing the cafeteria to go back to a dining-only facility.
