MedBridge, a leading provider of development, management, turnaround and revenue cycle services to ambulatory surgery centers (ASCs), announces its official certification by the Green Business Program of Santa Barbara County.

“This certification demonstrates MedBridge’s commitment to environmental stewardship and the hope that each of our employees thinks about their carbon footprint at work and home,” said Ruth Loomer, General Manager at MedBridge. Loomer is also a Partnership Council Member of the Community Environmental Council, an environmental nonprofit focused on energy efficiency, alternative transportation, and renewable energy.

MedBridge committed significant resources and effort to meet and exceed the typical sustainability measures. Traditional fluorescent lighting was replaced with energy-efficient T8 fixtures and bulbs. Conventional sprinkler heads were replaced with drip irrigation or rotating heads. A rain sensor was installed to significantly reduce irrigation water usage. Copy paper of 30% post-consumer waste content (PCW) was replaced with 100% PCW paper. Responsibly harvested and recycled content paper goods are used in kitchens and bathrooms. These changes, among many others, exhibit MedBridge’s dedication to serving its clients in a socially responsible way.

“Our culture of sustainability can be seen in our extensive alternative transportation program,” remarked Katie Chambers, Human Resources Manager at MedBridge. “We encourage employees to ‘green’ their commutes through a monthly raffle and semiannual incentives. Over fifty percent of our employees participate on a regular basis.”

“This is just the beginning. I’m excited to see where we go from here,” added Loomer.
