Excuse me, but the harbor is supposed to be public property for the use of all citizens. How did we let the lucky few who have leased these slips essentially take de facto ownership of them? They sell a public boat slip in a public harbor for 400 grand, and the rich just keep getting richer! The Santa Barbara City Council won’t do a thing about creating a waiting list fair to those of us who don’t have a half million bucks to buy a public slip in a public harbor—who do you think has the influence and money to make sure the status quo remains in place? This is criminal and if it’s not it should be. City officials have received reports and studies numerous times over the years that state how unfair this is, yet does nothing about it. At the very least the city should be making the money from the sale!

I wonder if the Harbor ever took money from the state or feds to fix or upgrade the marina? If they did, there has to be some basis for an equal access lawsuit?
