Santa Barbara Channels Launches 2010 Membership Drive
Public Access TV Station Invites Community Support, Announces Telebration Event
The Santa Barbara Channels is holding a Membership Drive November 15 – 20. South Coast residents and businesses are invited to support Channels 17 and 21, as well as the station’s extensive training programs and educational opportunities.
“We know many people have been informed or entertained by our programming for years. This is their opportunity to support this important community resource,” said Keri Stokstad, Executive Director.
General memberships are $50 a year. Student and Senior memberships are $25. New members and donors will be listed on-air as Dynamic Donors, receive our email newsletter, and get a nifty SB Channels coffee mug. Additionally, a membership is the first step to taking classes and producing a show!
The six-day Membership Drive will culminate in a live, one-hour “Telebration” TV show, scheduled for Saturday, November 20, 5 to 6 p.m., on Channel 17. Masters of Ceremonies will be Candi Corbani, Channels Chair of the Board of Directors, and David Starkey, producer and host of Channel 21’s Creative Community.
Musical entertainment will be provided by Grady Lee, a junior at Dos Pueblos High School and member of the Dos Pueblos Jazz Choir. Lee opened for Foreigner at the Chumash Casino last month, and is a regular at local Farmers Markets and restaurants on the South Coast.
Membership Drive sponsors/donors include: Allied Waste Services of Santa Barbara, Hidden Oaks Golf Course, MacMechanic, Los Agaves Restaurant, Santa Barbara Festival Ballet, and filmmakers Sam Tyler. and Ken Volok.

Channel 17 Community Television provides a televised forum for legal, non-commercial speech, a First Amendment beacon, a channel in which citizens and organizations can create and disseminate information. Channel 21 serves as a televised gallery of local arts, culture and education.
