Santa Barbara City College hosted Veterans’ Resource Day on Tuesday, November 9, in recognition of current and former SBCC students, faculty, and staff who served in the Armed Forces.

More than 30 community and college groups participated and provided information to assist veterans with services available to them.

Among the speakers at the special noontime presentation were (in photo above): Jason Walker, former veteran and current SBCC Director of Educational Applications; Magdalena Torres, Student Program Advisor, SBCC Veterans Affairs Program; Marissa Munoz Lopez, former veteran and current SBCC student; Ryan Burke, former veteran and current student; and Max Ramirez, former veteran and former SBCC student who graduated from UCSB in June 2010.

In October 2010, SBCC was recognized as one of the top 101 “Best for Vet” colleges and universities in the U.S. by Military Times EDGE magazine. The college was cited for its excellent financial aid, academic policies, and supportive campus culture and student services that assist veterans to make a successful transition from military to college life
