During the Renaissance, England’s rich spent their leisure time fencing, jousting, and going to the theater. This weekend, go back in time to a 16th-century English country village, and experience the food, drink, and fun of the period at Ojai’s annual Renaissance (and Pirate) Faire. Re-created on the shores of Lake Casitas, the fair will have two stages featuring continuous entertainment. Original hand-crafted items—period clothing, armament, fine jewelry, original art, and pottery—will be for sale. Food stalls will serve olde English fare such as giant barbecued turkey legs, English bangers, and desserts. Battle reenactments and demonstrations will occur throughout both days. Saturday-Sunday, May 22-23, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Lake Casitas, 11311 Santa Ana Road, Ojai. Cost: $16 (adults), $14 (seniors), $8 (kids 4-11), Free (under 4). For more info, call 496-6036 or 649-2233.
