The perfect summer picnic and concert venue, Rancho La Patera, is presenting live music and plenty of lawn for families and friends on the next four Tuesday evenings.

“Music at the Ranch,” in its fourth season, features a wide variety of accomplished bands playing everything from pop, indie rock, classical guitar, and jazz, to funk, soul, reggae, salsa, and blues. And the concerts are free.

The beautiful gardens of Stow House and the ranch offer plenty of shade for those seeking it. There is plenty of space for blankets and chairs both close to the stage and a distance away.

“Some of the bands are on the more mellow side, and others have toddlers to retirees up dancing among the trees,” said Dacia Harwood, director of events at the ranch. “A huge mix of people come to the concerts,” she said, and “numerous visitors have commented on the small town feel of the events.”

Many are repeat visitors week after week, and lots of people walk to Rancho La Patera from surrounding neighborhoods, according to Harwood.

Area 51, known for its outstanding funk, soul, R&B, Motown, and disco, will be on stage Tuesday, July 27, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Goleta’s Noontime Rotary Club is a special sponsor for this concert.

Donna Greene & the Roadhouse Daddies, with a repertoire of vintage feisty blues and smoky jazz, will perform August 3. On August 10, a dance floor will be set up and Somos Son will be dig into dance rhythms of Cuba, with traditional Cuban son dance music and contemporary salsa influences.

Spencer the Gardner, a longtime national and international success with local roots, will entertain the crowd with its eclectic mix of big band, indie, and pop at the final concert on August 17.

All of the concerts take place from 5:30-7:30 p.m.

ATK Space Systems is the presenting sponsor of all the concerts, while multiple other businesses and organizations, including the city of Goleta, contribute as sponsors to the events.

Rancho La Patera is located at 304 N. Los Carneros Road in Goleta. For more information, go to www.stowhouse.com or call 681-7216.
