• The students of El Puente Community School (430 E. Gutierrez St.) are in the planning stages of planting a school flower and vegetable garden on their campus. The school cannot afford all of the needed supplies and is asking the community to donate some materials. Raised flowerbeds, soil, packets of perennial seeds, garden spades, organic fertilizer, and organic mulch are needed most. Call 965-1460.

• The Teddy Bear Cancer Foundation is an S.B.-based nonprofit that provides middle- and low-income families with financial aid to cover basic necessities when a child must undergo treatment for cancer. As of late, the organization’s monetary resources have been scarcer than usual, but the demand for the foundation’s aid is greater than ever. The group is seeking donations to continue to provide its services in our community. Call 563-4740.
