If you’re hoping for a bit more Fiesta, or you’d prefer a Fiesta for the rest-a-us, check out Shepherd Farms (6701 Casitas Pass Rd., Carpinteria, shepherdfarmscsa.com) on Sunday, August 8, 11 a.m.-4 p.m., for its Fiesta on the Farm. Tom Shepherd had his name on finer restaurants’ menus throughout town years before naming a supplier was de rigueur. The farms will be cooking up their fine fresh produce, serving up a Fiesta-inspired feast including taco (de rajas and fish) plates with pinquito beans, salsa, and guacamole ($8), agua frescas ($2), and Mexican wedding cookies with Julia Crookston’s Preserves ($1). What’s more, the proceeds will be split between Shepherd Farms and Santa Barbara School Districts (SBSD), whose nutrition service director Nancy Weiss and her team will prepare the food on the farm in their mobile kitchen. In great news for area children, SBSD started purchasing food from Shepherd Farms every week last fall. Preregistration is not necessary.
