For parents trying to get their children more active, Kidzmet is a new search engine that offers a way to find extracurricular activities in Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo Counties.

To kick off the launch of the new Web site, Kidzmet.com will hold a drawing from their member database on May 1, selecting five members to win a $50 Target gift card. As an added incentive, if ten families are registered in their social networks by May 1, Kidzmet will reward those families with a $50 gas card.

The website, Kidzmet.com, is a search engine that allows parents to search and compare children’s classes by distance, age, interest, day, time, and price-per-class. There is also an option to browse by neighborhood, if users are looking for a program close by. Each class is rated so parents can choose programs that others have enjoyed.

“I knew there was a wealth of great local kids’ activities out there that I didn’t know existed,” says Kidzmet Founder Jen Lilienstein in a press release, “but even I was surprised by just how many there were.”

After enrolling their kids in programs, parents will be able to add their own reviews of the class to the Web site, as well as rate their experience. The site uses several rating scales, including age appropriateness, curriculum, and teachers, giving future participants a better idea of what the class will entail.

For busy parents, Kidzmet offers carpool scheduling, online enrollment, and an interactive calendar to schedule tentative classes. The site’s social network allows users to connect with friends and discuss programs with other parents. Even for those who do not want to register with the website, Kidzmet allows all visitors to find the best programs to fit their child’s interests and their own schedule.
