Smoking will soon be banned in all county parks and beaches after a unanimous vote from county supervisors on 4/6. A survey found 80 percent of people supported a smoking ban, and cigarette butt litter and secondhand smoke were the reasons behind the idea. At camping parks such as Cachuma Lake, exceptions will be made with restrictions. Because the change requires an ordinance amendment, the supervisors will have to vote again to make the ordinance permanent on 4/20.
