For the past 10 years, Santa Barbara has held its annual Creek Week, when folks come together to clean up and tend to the area’s natural waterways. Although Creek Week officially began Saturday, September 19, events run through Saturday, September 26, so there’s still time to lend a helping hand. There are myriad events to chose from: Thursday, September 24, you can participate in Storm Drain Marker Cleaning and Replacement (9am-noon) or the Mission Creek Steelhead Recovery Project (5pm); Friday, September 25, there is East Storke Wetland Cleanup at UCSB (2-4pm); and Saturday, September 26, it’s San Pedro Creek Cleanup with the City of Goleta (9am-noon).
