News is still sketchy at this point, but the Ventura CHP website is currently reporting a fire near the intersection Paradise and San Marcos Pass roads. The Initial report went up at 1:17 p.m. Allegedly smoke can be viewed from Stagecoach. At 1:47 p.m., the fire was noted as being in the Red Rock area, but that has yet to be confirmed. Thanks! Please keep me updated, I'm on Paradise Rd. Lots of aerial/ground activity. Wind is favorable. KEYT has soap operas on. Very important stuff!

"US Forest Service, County Fire and San Marcos Pass units are on scene of a vegetation fire on Paradise Road west of the ranger station. The fire is in light grass and brush burning up hill. Wind is not currently a factor. More information as it becomes available."

Just drove over the mountain about 1:45. Saw the smoke, a helicopter and about half a dozen fire trucks rushing there.

I've been watching the activity from the White Rock day camp area on Paradise Rd. (about 2 miles west of ranger station). Smoke has died down enough that I can't see it anymore. The last two helicopters and one spotter plane left the scene approximately 15 - 20 minutes ago (at peak activity, I counted AT LEAST 4 helicopters dropping water, 3 spotter planes, and 1 tanker plane). I assume that ground crews are still working.
