Everything’s going green these days, even Santa Barbara’s longtime quirk-pop maestro Spencer the Gardener, whose new album is a catchy ode to the slow food movement perfect for the Farmers Market crowd. Originally conceived as a children’s album—honeybees and the giant mountain chicken frog are just two animal stars carrying some of the fruity weight—Organic Gangster is sing-along-y for the kiddies, but smart enough for adults—or at least those ready to yell. “Don’t eat genetically modified food!” launches the record, while the seasonal sensation “The Gobble Song”—which tends to top YouTube on Thanksgiving Day—now has an album to officially call home. It’ll be released to the eco-grooving masses October 10 at the S.B. Harbor Festival.
